We are pleased to inform that on 13th February a meeting with Corporal Tomasz Rożniatowski –wounded Veteran of war in Afghanistan, had taken place at XLIV Antoniego Dobiszewskiego’s Secondary School in Warsaw. The following meeting was organized as a port of the project „Live history – a meeting with a Veteran”. Nevertheless, the meeting was unique. The audience listened to Corporal’s story about coming back to normal life, despite his injury and traumatic life experiences.
During the meeting, which took the form of an interview, students were asking questions concerning daily life on a military mission and how soldiers operate in such extreme conditions as in Afghanistan. Furthermore, questions also concerned Rożniatowski’s private life. Students were very curious why Corporal had chosen to join Polish Army and how his rehabilitation looked like. Some of the questions seemed surprising, however the guest answered all of them. Student were also very interested in other sphere of Corporal’s life, namely his sport activity. Presently, Corporal Rożniatowski is preparing for Invictus Games, an international sport event, created by His Royal Highness Prince Harry. For the first time, Poland will participate in it.
Finally we also encourage to contact Center for Foreign Mission Veterans directly and to familiarize with their educational offer, specialized library and to visit their office. More information can be found at:centrum-weterana.mon.gov.pl.
